Clinical Commissioning Group

Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is the name for the new health commissioning organisation which  will replace Primary Care Trusts in April 2013. Commissioning organisations are responsible for the planning and buying of healthcare across the Farnham and North East Hampshire areas to meet the needs of our local population.

The key difference between a PCT and a CCG is that the commissioning of services will be led by GPs instead of managers. This is because GPs are better placed to understand what services patients need, as nearly all patients go to their GP before accessing any health services.

The Farnham CCG (which represents the five Farnham practices) has now merged with North East Hants CCG to form a large group centred around our main acute hospital, FrimleyPark.
